An Ancient Roman’s Daily Routine

①Mi sveglio all’alba e saluto i Lari, gli dèi protettori della casa.
I wake up at dawn and greet the Lares, the protective gods of the home.
②Mi lavo il viso con acqua fredda e indosso la mia tunica.
I wash my face with cold water and put on my tunic.
③Mangio pane con miele o fichi per colazione.
I eat bread with honey or figs for breakfast.
④Vado al foro per incontrare amici e fare commissioni.
I go to the forum to meet friends and run errands.
⑤Nel pomeriggio partecipo a un piccolo banchetto e parlo di politica o filosofia.
In the afternoon, I join a small banquet and talk about politics or philosophy.
⑥Poi vado alle terme per lavarmi, riposarmi e parlare con altre persone.
Then I go to the baths to wash, relax, and chat with others.
⑦Ceno con la famiglia mangiando carne, verdure e bevendo vino.
I have dinner with my family, eating meat, vegetables, and drinking wine.
⑧Prima di dormire, ringrazio gli dèi e penso alle cose buone della giornata.
Before sleeping, I thank the gods and think about the good things of the day.
